BRRRRR Freezy -46 degrees!

What a week!

This week has been pretty good... it has been freezing cold but good! We have made a huge push this week to visit a whole bunch of less actives, and we ended up having 4 less active lessons and then we had 3 recent convert lessons. It was so good to go out and meet a whole bunch of people and really start working and teaching them all. We have some really great less active people here... I think it will be challenging to get them to come to church, but we will try! We also had a lesson with Kendra this week... it was a pretty intense lesson. We got there and started to talk and then within the first 5 minutes she started talking about temple sealings... I guess a member told her that he was going to be sealed in the temple and was really excited, but Kendra got curious and looked up temple sealing on the internet... the INTERNET! Needless to say she pretty much got all the details about the temple and she was pretty freaked out, so that was crazy I had never dealt with that before, it was hard cause you can't talk about that stuff, but some how we calmed her down and worked it out. After that we taught her the plan of salvation and she really accepted that. She is still on track to be baptized, but now we just have to really work with her on understanding the temple.

Other than that this has been a pretty normal week, we helped a person move on Saturday and had a whole bunch of great dinner appointments this week. On Friday we actually stopped and helped this lady, she almost hit a deer and then ended up sliding into a ditch, so we stopped and helped her and waited with her until someone came to pull her out. Its so funny how many people end up in the ditches here... I have been in it once when Elder Burnett was driving, but I keep praying that while I'm driving I stay out of them!

Anyways I hope you all have a great week and enjoy the warmth... it got down to -46 this week!!! brrrrrr!

Love you all have a great week!

Great Missionary Work Week

Well hello everyone! How was everyone's Valentines day?

This has been a great week! Elder Elliott and I have been able to do a lot of great missionary work this week! We have been working like crazy. We have really been making a push to see and visit a whole bunch of less actives and also visit a bunch of part member families. So far we are seeing a a lot of success from that, we have so many potentials for investigators right now because of all that. Mostly we have been going over and introducing ourselves and getting to know people and now hopefully this week we can go back to a lot of them and start to REALLY teach them.

It was kinda sad this week we didn't get to have a lesson with either Kendra or Willy, they were both super busy but they did both come to church so that was great! They have come to church for about 5 weeks in a row now, which is so good! Yesterday in gospel principles we were laughing because we taught missionary work.  We had taught 2 of our investigators to do missionary work and they were so excited about sharing the gospel.... they are both so prepared for baptism!

Other than that our week has been pretty normal.  We had a ZTM in International Falls this week and it takes about 2 hours to drive there. I was nervous because I was driving on like sheets of ice the whole time, so that was scary, but we made it! It has been snowing like crazy this week too. We went walking around one day and man I thought we were going to freeze to death! But everything is going really well. Elder Elliott and I get along really well and I think we will see a lot of great things happen this transfer!

I hope everything is going well back at home! I love you all and miss you! Have a great week!

New Companion

Well transfer week is over and I finally got a new companion! Elder Burnett left on Thursday and went to Winnipeg and flew home on Friday. I also got my new companion on Thursday. My new companion's name is Elder Elliot. He is a pretty neat guy. So far I really like him and so far we get along really well. I think that we will have a really good transfer together, and hopefully see a lot of success. I can already see a difference in the members here and we have already been able to do quite a bit of work. I won't lie for some really weird reason I miss Elder Burnett a little bit, he was just a nice person and I always was laughing at the things he would do but I'm so happy and relieved to have a new comp that is ready and willing to work!

So on Saturday I ended up getting really sick! On Friday we had dinner and then went to Casey Nelson's house and they fed us again. I am not too sure but I think it was just too much food and the two dinners didn't mix well and needless to say I was throwing up all night long and all Saturday morning. Finally by about 3 o'clock on Saturday I felt good enough to go out and we went to the church and then Saturday night we got to teach Kendra again at Casey's. We had a great lesson with her and we committed her to a baptismal date!!!!! So March 14 Kendra will be getting baptized! I am so excited for her, it will be such a great step for her and she is so prepared for it! We're hoping that we can get Willy to the point were he will be baptized on the same day. We keep trying and praying for him and I really believe that it will happen!

I am so excited for this transfer, we have so much potential here and I can't wait to see all the great things that are going to happen! I love Warroad so much and the members here are seriously some of the best in the mission! I am so blessed to be here!

I hope you all have a great week! I love you and I miss you, but there is really no place I would rather be right now! Love you all!

Staying in Warroad

Hey Everyone!

How was everyone's week?

This week has been ok for me! We got transfer calls this week and it looks like I will be staying here in Warroad for another 6 weeks, but I will be getting a new companion! His name is Elder Elliot. He has been out for 18 months, and I hear he is a hard worker, but that's about all I know about him! I guess I will have more details next week! I can't believe that its already been 7 weeks with Elder Burnett. I thought it would never be over, but its crazy how fast time flies. He is getting really excited to go home, but some  how he is staying somewhat motivated so far! That is something to be grateful for!!!! Transfers will happen Thursday, so him and I will drive to Winnipeg and then I will drive back that same day, so it will be a lot of driving!!!

Other than that this week has been pretty good! We taught that potential investigator I was talking about last week. Her name is Kendra, and her husband is a less active. The lesson went so well, we taught her with Casey Nelson and he was the perfect member to have there! We invited Kendra to be baptized and guess what???? She said yes!!!! We weren't able to set an exact date, but she was really happy and excited about it! Next lesson we will set a date with her and hopefully get her baptized this transfer! Today we also have a lesson with Willie, and we are hoping to set a baptismal date with him too! Now this week we need to just go out and find MORE people to teach, our teaching pool isn't too big, but hopefully my new comp. and I can enlarge it a little bit!

We have definitely seen some miracles here this last transfer. Its amazing how the work moves forward. I am so grateful for all of your prayers, and support! I hope you keep praying for me and mostly for our investigators, they need all the prayers they can get!!!

Thanks again. I love and miss you all! Have a great week!

Miracles in a Small Town

Hello this week,

This has been a pretty good week! We weren't able to teach too many lessons, but we did have some good experiences! We were able to teach Willy this week, we taught him the plan of salvation, and he really liked it. He was so in to what we were saying, and then he started crying at one point in the lesson. It is was neat to see him as he learned about his purpose here in life. That was something that Willy had a lot of questions about and he loved the lesson because it answered so many of his questions. I think next lesson we will invite him to be baptized again and we will see what he says.

This week at church, we had a big turn out! There was a lot of people there, and a bunch of them were less actives. We had really good lessons in all of our classes too! In Sunday School we teach the gospel principles class, and the past two weeks we have had 1 investigator, a couple of less actives and one of the less actives has been bringing his non member wife to church. Yesterday we talked about scriptures study and the less active, his name is Shayne, was talking about how his wife just keeps reading the Book of Mormon and the Bible. Then  after the lesson I guess President Erickson was talking to Shayne and his wife and his wife asked about getting baptized!!! Its so exciting! Hopefully this week we will go over and start teaching her and maybe set a date for baptism!
Its amazing how the missionary work in these small little places continues to move forward. You would think that in a town so small that there wouldn't be much success or much opportunity for missionaries, but I keep getting amazed at how much potential there is in small little towns. I am so grateful to have been able to serve in these small little towns, it has really helped me realize all of the miracles that God is capable of performing! All we need to do is pray for them and then work for them and we will see so many miracles in our lives!!!!

This week should be an interesting week, it is almost Elder Burnettes last week and hopefully he will be able to finish off strong. We also get transfer calls this week so I will find out Saturday who my new companion will be! Thanks for all your love and support! I am so grateful for all of my family and friends. I love each of you! Have a great week!

Short and Sweet This Week.

This has been a pretty good week. We found a new investigator this week. His name is Willy! He is a little Hispanic guy, and he is pretty neat guy! We went and taught him the first lesson, and he loved it. We talked about baptism, and he told us it was something he would think about so that was really exciting! Willy was a potential investigator before I got here. They found him playing basketball. He has come to church like 3 times and he is super involved with the branch. He actually stayed after yesterday and sang in the branch choir! He is a great guy and I really think that next transfer he will be baptized so that is exciting! Other than that this week was okay. We did have a couple less actives come to church yesterday and we had one bring his non member wife so were hoping to set something up and start teaching her too! I am so glad that things here are starting to move forward, its a huge relief!!!!

My companion is doing better. He is trying to stay obedient and keep working. He is a really good person and I do like him, but holy cow he is just not wanting to be a missionary!

Anyways I love you all! I hope you have a great week. Thank you for your prayers and support, they really do help!!!!!!

Warroad, Minnesota

This week has been so much better than the last 4! My companion is still really struggling but we were actually able to do missionary work this week and see some success.

I was thinking a couple days ago that I really haven't told any of you that much about Warroad and what its like here so I guess I will tell you a little more about it here!

Like I had said before Warroad is a really small place but there is a whole bunch of other places in our area along with Warroad. We have a city called Roseau and a city called Baudette, and there is a whole bunch of little towns in between. So we cover a lot of ground here, its about a 20 minute drive to Roseau and 30 minute drive to Buadette in the opposite direction. We have members spread through out the whole entire area, so we have to plan day trips if we want to go to Roseau or Baudette. That took awhile to figure out and we wasted a lot of miles in the process, but now we know haha!

The members here are so so good! A whole bunch of them are from Utah and Idaho and they all moved up here to work at the Polaris plant here. A lot of the members are engineers and they design the snowmobiles and the fourwheelers or side by sides. It's pretty neat! All the people here are really out doorsie people and they all love to go ice fishing and just normal fishing! I really do love the people here, all the members are super nice and I get along with them really well! There are five families in particular that are great, the Ericksons, the Nelsons, the Dorows, the Johnstuns, and the Menloves. They are so good to the missionaries, and they all have little kids that are super funny!!!! It makes me sad because I am already getting super attached to these people and then I will just have to leave again!!!

Anyways, this was a good week, we were able to teach 4 lessons, we taught 2 recent converts and 2 less actives, and we actually had a potential investigator come to church. We got all of his info and hopefully we will be able to meet with him this week. Thank you all for your prayers and support, they have really helped this week! Only three more weeks and I will get a new companion and then we can really get hard at work!

Love you all and I hope you have a great week!
